Mount Aso is 7.3 km from the ryokan and KK Wings is 33 km away. Wonderful experience including hard to beat local dinner that went in and on and on and was delicious and interesting… (included horse meat sashimi!) breakfast was excellent and the onsens in the hotel lovely albeit pretty hot… We had booked two rooms for three people each which were converted at our request and no additional cost to three twin rooms. Wonderful and memorable stay.

Minshuku Asogen, a property with a garden, is situated in Aso, 30 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, 38 km from Kumamoto Castle, as well as 38 km from Suizenji Park. The property is around 39 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, 8.8 km from Mount Aso and 30 km from KK Wings. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. The place is cozy, warm and tidy. Private bath room and onsen are amazing, muscles feels relaxed and skin is very smooth after enjoying the hot spring. The host family is super nice and friendly, breakfast and dinner are delicious, the quality of the food surprises me, really love it!

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath. Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. We spent 3 nights at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihonbashi Kayabacho hotel after arriving in Japan (There is another Fresa Inn in the area, so make sure this is where you have your reservation). It is a relatively modern, functional hotel sometimes referred to as a business hotel.  The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very small as is typical in Tokyo but very clean and functional.  The hotel is convenient to Tokyo station (20 minutes walking as a reference). After arriving on the Narita Express or by others means to Tokyo station, follow signs to the Tozai line (sky blue) subway. The easiest way to know which direction to go is to look at the numbers representing the stops.  The Tokyo station stop at Otemachi is T-9 and you want to go to T-7 Kayabacho. Leave the Kayabacho subway station via Exit 7 and the hotel is just around the corner.  From Kayabaco or the nearby Nihonbashi station, you can get all around Tokyo on the highly efficient subway system.  Use a Suica, Welcome Suica or Pasmo card to enter and exit subways and avoid the hassle of figuring out which ticket to buy or how much they coat. Just tap and go.  Enjoy. Kokura,Onsen EXPERIENCE JAPAN LIKE THE JAPANESE We decided to spend a couple of days in central Kyushu to enjoy a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Boy, was that a great call! I88We stayed at the Yama no Yado Shinmeikan  in the Kokura Onsen area, which is an hour north of Aso city by bus. The ryokan is 130 years old but is clean and well-maintained. It features a total of 5 unique onsens, including one carved into a cave.  The ambiance is terrific and the staff is super friendly and helpful.  The ryokan is located along a flowing river and the sound of running water adds to the relaxing quality of the stay.  (The Fuji room is best). All accommodations are traditional Japanese tatami rooms which are made up for sleep each night by the staff as you enjoy the onsen baths.

Situated along Tanohara River and surrounded by tranquil nature in Kurokawa Onsen hot spring area, Oku no Yu Ryokan offers charming Japanese-style accommodation and various hot spring baths. It also boasts a thermal-heated indoor swimming pool. Free WiFi is provided in public areas. Oku no yu was great! The staff picked us up from the bus station and dropped us off. The facilities had a public and many private onsens to try. The staff helped us set up our futons and there were yukatas for us in the room. We had breakfast there and it was very yummy. Overall, great experience and would recommend!

A variety of Japanese shochu liquor, wines and other drinks can be enjoyed at bar Kura. Beautiful Japanese ryokan with amazing Onsen hot springs. The staff presented us with incredible hospitality, a true ryokan experience. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The included dinner and breakfast were unique and excellent, mainly consisting of traditional local cuisine that enhanced our overall express. One of the best highlights of our Japan trip!

Situated in the centre of the Kurokawa Onsen Area and boasting a total of 8 indoor/outdoor hot spring baths, Nanjoen offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding. The room was lovely, large tatami room with a table and chairs by a hand he window with a view of the mountains. The bath was well appointed and serene with a nice open air bath area. The dinner and breakfast were just delicious. Highly recommend!

This was the first time my wife and I visited an onsen ryokan and we were completely blown away! The facility is settled in the middle of nature in complete serenity. You instantly notice great attention to the tiniest detail in how the place is kept and managed. We took the half board option with the private hot bath and we loved every bit of it. The water was at the right temperature (pretty hot) and the food was absolutely amazing. A big thanks again to all the staff, the service received was on a level that I had never seen yet in my life and we travel quite a lot..
