The stores and restaurants in the train station were good.
The stores and restaurants in the train station were good. There is the famous Kiriko cut glass factory and gift shop, Senganen Gardens and an excellent restaurant with a view of the volcano, Yamakataya department store, and the people in Kagoshima are very helpful and friendly. Every time I go to Japan I go to Kagoshima now. It also has hot springs. It is easy to catch the bus and tram cars that come often to get around.

We liked the nearby shops, the closeness to ferry and trainstation with Shinkansen accessibility. We found a lot of different style restaurants nearby.
In our experience was 1 Queen-bed too small for 2 european people.
The free space allowed us to only open 1 suitcase at a time.

Fascinating, lively city, interesting surroundings, very approachable people. Good food, too. Public transport is well-organised and affordable, and easy to navigate. Sakurajima's brooding, smoke-spewing presence provides the city with a unique atmosphere. I recommend the Kagoshima Brands store for souvenirs and omiyage (9-1 Meizanchō, Kagoshima). And don't miss Sengenan on any account!

Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard.
Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard. It make for a different kind of vibe. It is also a port city with many ferries, mostly going south to the little island atchepelago that ends in Okinawa. Warmer weather than most of Japan but still pretty chill in January. Nice people, I found them friendly. I like the place.

Sakurajima ,Senganen, Siroyama, Tenmonkan, and so on. Famous sight seeing spots, I recommend you. And local foods, such as satsumaage, black pig, karukanmanjyu, kibinago, you had better try them.

The rural areas of southern Kagoshima are very different from the rest of Japan, with not so huge mountains and very spacious land. It gives a very nice and different vibe seeing all those flat farmlands spread along the see, with a backdrop of volcanoes and hot springs. There are also some good hiking spots. Especially, Yakushima is a paradise for hikers with its deep, pristine and quite untouched forests and streams.
Absolutely loved the place! It’s a hotel, but has a ryokan influence. The Japanese room was great, with enough room to move around and everything you need - water, tea, yukata, fridge etc
The onsen and traditional breakfast were great, too.
The location is perfect to visit many places of interest and the City View bus stop is just a couple of min walk from it.
My favourite thing was staff: they are all professional, friendly, welcoming, super kind and helpful. If I come back I will definitely stay here again, no doubt!
Clean modern hotel with modern bathroom and showers.
Parking for cars at reasonable rate (1000 yen per night) with free in and out privileges.
Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate in the vending machine in the lobby. Location was pretty good, in the middle of the shopping business district and around a 15 minute walk to the train station.
Adequate workout facility and coin laundry facility.
Very helpful staff.
Outstanding unobstructed view of Mount Sakurajima from the 10th floor breakfast room!
Being across the street from the train station and from a tram stop was convenient. There is a convenience store next to the hotel. We had a view of the volcano from our room on the 13th floor. It was a great view. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food and it was the best organized. We were handed a tray and plate on arrival. Makes getting the food a lot more orderly than when you have to find those things yourself.
Second time staying here.
The aircond can finally be adjusted.
Its usually hot in autumn at kagoshima.
Esp this year, so its good i can have air cond functioning in the room.
They also added air purifier which is fantastic.
Location is so near the station, just exit shinkansen ticket and turn left (west exit). U will get pass big c camera shop and in abt 3 min reach the hotel.
Nice hotel ~
I contacted the property to see if we could drop our bags about 5 hours early as we were traveling with 2 young kids and a lot of luggage to make our day easier, when we arrived to the hotel to drop our bags they had our room ready and let us check in early. Staff were so nice and helpful. They organised taxis for us and nothing was to hard for them to help us. Great place to stay.
I stayed here for a night while waiting for my new apartment to be ready. The location is super close to the station and restaurants, etc. It's very convenient.
The staff were so nice!! I felt very welcomed.
The room was nice, big bed, big bath. I could even watch Netflix on the TV. Overall I recommend this hotel if you're stopping by Kagoshima city.
Large hot spring (onsen) and facilities were great. The outdoor hot spring boasts a view of the Volcano Sakurajima. Breakfast buffet was amazing with their huge selection of choices. It is an old, famous hotel in Kagoshima and it has history. Everywhere including our rooms were spotlessly clean. It also has a convenience store.
Location adjoining JR Kagoshimachuo rail station so it was perfect.
The hotel looked to be almost brand new at December 2023.
The room we selected was the larger option and there was plenty of space everywhere. It was equipped with a toilet in a separate room.
Staff were polite and helpful.
Every room has a nice view of Sakurajima (as does the public bath). This is a great location if you want a nice in-hotel onsen with good views. The bath was especially soothing after active days walking around town. We really enjoyed having hotpot at the hotel's Shichisai restaurant.
Very spacious, modern, clean and comfortable room. Location was good - a short walk from both Kagoshimachuo station and Tenmonkan. The hotel allowed us to store our luggage with them for the 3 days prior to us checking in while we were on Yakushima. Very good value for money.
The Hotel is really cozy, everything is new, the beds are really comfy and the Location is excellent! The owner is incredible friendly, she helped us a lot and we felt very welcome- also with our baby! We would stay there again, if we are in the future in Kagoshima.
Great location for food choices and scenic walks around town. Kagoshima has a long history which can be enjoyed by walking around and learning about the statues.
Hotel room was decent size w a nice view. Bathroom and tub were a comfortable size.
Big room, cheap, clean, modern and many amenities like toothbrushes and laundry detergent for the laundry machine. Great location, 5 minute walk from Kagoshima-chuo station. Wonderful beds!! Easy check-in and check-out on tablet.
The hotel had easy access to public transit and was conveniently located near Kagoshimachuo Station. The rooms were very clean and had all the necessary amenities. The view from the window of Sakurajima volcano was fantastic.
Nice hotel just minutes away from the main Kagoshima street and near the port. The hotel is clean with friendly staff. The room we stayed was fine and we got same room first night and upon return from Yakushima.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful - even though there was a communication barrier. Excellent massage. Nice onzen - unusual to find in a budget hotel.
