I made a heap of friends at this hostel, different ages. The man at the front desk was very friendly. The view was beautiful especially from the kitchen. Great place to stay especially to do the hikes.

The location was perfect, the staff went above and beyond, and it was clean and comfy. There was only continental breakfast served on site, although cooked breakfast could be ordered the night before and involved nipping down the road to the King's Head Inn, two minutes drive or ten minutes walk away. The Continental breakfast was generous enough for us not to bother. The coffee shop stays open until 9 every night for drinks and light snacks. It is a small 15 bed lodge with a family feel, and a modern aspect, lovely skylights to let in both light and the view.
A Regency house overlooking Ullswater, the Macdonald Leeming House has an award-winning restaurant and views of the Cumbrian Fells. It is a 15-minute drive from the M6 motorway.

Location was good, hotel a bit tired for that money. Unfortunately food for prices like this was not good. I paid for dinner where was one dish for each person and 2 drinks, im breakfast a little and i paid 175£ fior 2 persons +VAT . We stayed there only 1 night and they add 10£ fot room service witch nobody done that day.

Beautiful setting, great guest hotel. Breakfast was included and was excellent. We bought dinner the evening before and it was also an excellent meal.
We had a lovely walk after dinner in the beautiful setting.

Glenridding the gateway to Ullswater.
Glenridding the gateway to Ullswater. I chose the Ullswater Inn for it's location as it's right in the heart of everything. Access to Lake Ullswater is a stones throw from the Inn. Plenty of walks and beautiful scenery, whatever the weather.
The food at the Ullswater is prepared fresh to your order and is of a high standard, no need to go looking to eat elsewhere. I can fully recommend the porridge at breakfast.
Chris and the team really make you feel welcome and do everything they can to make your stay a thing to remember.

Very beautiful location with quaint cafés and plenty of hiking trails. The lake offers more experiences too. There is a lot of nature to explore. It is also quiet and peaceful. The locals and warm and hospitable while other hikers and outdoorsy people are friendly too.
It is a tad difficult to drive around due to the road quality in some places. The ferry across the lake stopped services fairly early too (around 5pm).
Food and drink is good. There are plenty of local beers to try and lots of vegan options too in multiple cafés.

An excellent hotel met all our expectations.
An excellent hotel met all our expectations. Location & surroundings are spectacular. We did the walk from Glenridding to Howtown it was very challenging to inexperienced walkers but the views were stunning. On our way home we stopped off at Lowther Castle which was lovely .
Thank you to Daniel, who waited at reception and made me a sandwich when I arrived after midnight on the first night, delayed due to traffic. This set the tone for the entire stay. The breakfast was fabulous, as was dinner. The friendliness and genuine tone of the staff was heartwarming. Everything was spot on, everyone was welcoming, the service was outstanding. I recommend the Inn on The Lake to everyone! It is a home from home and I'll be back!
What stands out most of all is the friendly, helpful, smiling attitude of ALL STAFF that we came into contact with. Nothing, I mean NOTHING was a problem or hassle, everything we asked for was delivered with a smile.
The hotel is to undergo a £2m upgrade next year. This should make the place even better (but please keep all the same staff).
We arrived late and were unsure about whether we'd get a vegetarian dinner - but we did, and it was unexpectedly good, including excellent service. This is a lovely hotel, comfortable, with excellent staff, an outstanding location, and very convenient for anyone who wants to experience a ride on the Ullswater 'steamer'.
On arrival I was greeted with a warm smile, and helped up to my room with my case, as it was very heavy. At breakfast there was a good selection from yogurts to fruit ,and of course the menu to choose from, can highly recommend the full English breakfast, also the service was very good too.
Great location, you are already in the fells. Accessible by car. 10-15min walk to The Traveller's rest pub with amazing view. 30min walk to Glenridding, would recommend a pint in The Inn on the lake (fancy 4* hotel but lovely courtyard round the back looking onto the lake)
The property is in woodland and there are deer who visit the garden. Glenridding is in walking distance and there are several places to eat and drink and shops there. It is a good base for walking and the walks around Ullswater are lovely and not too strenuous.
Very clean, nice shared space.
In the kitchen, you should find everything you need for cooking.
The beds were pretty comfy. < 10 mins from the bus station. The room was spacious.
Checked in quickly and a bit earlier. Friendly staff.
The hotel offers traditional comfort with beautiful views of the mountains and lake. The staff work very efficiently as a team and are all friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing base to explore the Lakes.
This is a well equipped cosy cottage in the middle of Glenridding, on the walk up to Helvellyn. A lovely welcome pack was provided. A stunning sun room on the third floor provided panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Comfortable bed, room size was great, good view of the mountain from my window, shower/bath was good. It was great location to get to Helvellyn, the best was was the shop outside the hotel.
